If you are bringing in your own artworks, you can use any packaging you feel comfortable with and make an appointment here. The guidelines below are meant for 3rd party transport. We can arrange collection and return of your artworks throughout the UK.
Please contact us to get an idea of pricing and an estimate. Once you've done this, please register an account with us and then follow the guidelines below - pack your art, arrange transport and we confirm receipt:
1. Packing your artworks
Using your own packaging:
There may be an additional un-packing / re-packing charge for your paintings of £10, unless you use soft pack art bags or you're bringing the artwork in yourself where extensive protection isn't needed.
Paintings or Framed prints using a same-day delivery service
First Bubblewrap the item. Secure thick card, MDF, or corrugated cardboard to cover the face of the painting or glass while in transit. Secure extra bubble wrap or card for the corners
Flat Artwork using a same-day, next day or tracked shipping service
Use an artwork sleeve, cello bag or tissue paper to wrap the item. Make sure your envelope or parcel is robust and include enough envelope stiffeners so it won't bend.
Using soft pack art bags (such as Artpakk):
You can use a reusable bag for protecting art works and frames. This makes it quick and easy to send to us and for us to open and re-pack. Soft pack bags should be strong, water resistant and shock absorbent, with acid free lining. We sell these at our studio or you can purchase them yourself.
Using a dedicated T-Frame or art crate:
These are normally custom made for artworks that very fragile or with a high valuation.
Art crates are primarily made for shipping, are robust timber and plywood boxes (to ISPM 15 standard), designed to house artwork for transport around the world and to transport single or multiple works to and from international art fairs and clients. They can be used over and over again whenever the artwork needs moving, and can stay with the artwork for the rest of its life.
T-frames are an economical art industry standard solution to safely transport a single painting using a same-day courier. Generally designed for local transport, but more robust then using a soft pack material.
2. Transport of artworks
You can arrange collection and delivery of artworks yourself or contact us to arrange this for you. We offer 3 options:
- via a standard same day courier using soft pack art bags or your own packaging. This would be uninsured.
- via a specialist art courier using soft pack art bags or your own packaging. Your consignment would be insured up to £10,000. Insurance is charged at £15 or 1% of the value of the consignment, whichever is greater (this must be agreed before the transit of your artworks and will show on your invoice as a separate item).
- via a specialist art courier using custom T-Frames or art crates. Insurance can be supplemented up to £250,000.
Make sure you include your full contact details (and order number or support ticket reference if you have one) on the outside and / or enclosed in the package.
